SUPER Get the Girls Out at Alpine Meadows!

February 23, 2014 is a SUPER Get the Girls Out Day at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort! We’re combining Get the Girls Out, Youth Initiative, and Outdoor Education in one day!!!

SheJumps is bringing together the female skiing and riding community for a fun day at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. We will have two meeting times between Summit and Roundhouse Chairs at 10 AM and 2 PM. All ages and abilities are welcome and we will split into groups accordingly. Demos will be available on site.

If you don’t have a ticket, consider volunteering for SkiDUCK that morning! You’ll help out youth while getting a free ticket for the day to Alpine Meadows. Get in touch Erin at anderson.erin.r at gmail.com to set that up! At 2pm, there is an optional Beacon Search Training Session with the Alpine Meadows Ski Patrol! Meet at Roundhouse and bring your beacon to attend that!

Finally, we’ll end the day with drinks at the Alpine bar from 3:30-5 PM. For more information email Meghan!

Wednesday, January 9th: Avalanche Safety-The Human Factors
Alpenglow Sports, Tahoe City / 6:30-8:30pm
Megan Michelson will share her first hand experiences from last year’s Steven’s Pass avalanche where three people were killed. Megan wrote about this tragedy in this fall’s Outside Magazine. Read the article, Tunnel Vision on her website. Megan will lead a discussion about the human factors of avalanche safety, an ever-growing field of study. What is human nature when traveling in groups? How does group mentality contribute to or hinder safety? We’ll discuss some rules of thumb to follow. Enjoy wine, snacks, and door prizes as well as 20% off everything at Alpenglow Sports (excluding skis, boots, bindings, beacons, skins and poles).

Get educated and have fun all season long! Hope to see everyone there!
